Great is thy faithfulness

Great is thy Faithfulness was written by Thomas Chisholm (1866_1960) with music composed by William M. Runyan (1870_1957) in America. The words attest to the changelessness of God and gained huge popularity from its association with Billy Graham.

Great is Thy faithfulness (Faithfulness) – played by Shaun Yong, Director of Music

1. Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father.
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not.
As thou hast been thou forever wilt be.

[Refrain]
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hath provided.
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

2. Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon, and stars in their courses above,
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
[Refrain]

3. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow;
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
[Refrain]

Thomas Chisholm (1866-1960)

A favourite hymn of Vicky Atchison, who writes:
This is one of the magnificent hymns of the twentieth century which can be sung with heart and soul – and a loud voice! It falls into my category of ‘Jubilant hymns’. These often have rousing choruses that raise our spirits and keep resonating in the memory.

I’m sure we could all do with a dose of jubilation and raising of spirits at the moment!
