Data Protection at St Andrew’s

How the Law affects us at St Andrew’s

The processing of personal data is mainly regulated by the Federal Act on Data Protection of 25 September 2020 (FADP) (Law 235.1 last amended 7 July 2025) and its ordinances, i.e., the Ordinance on Data Protection (ODP) and the Ordinance on Data Protection Certification. Like its European counterpart, the GDPR, the new law imposes a number of additional obligations on entities operating in Switzerland.

The FADP has recently been revised with the aim to strengthen data protection in general and to align it with the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in order to facilitate compliance of Swiss companies with those aspects of the GDPR that are applicable to controllers or processors outside of the EU, and to ensure that the EU will continue to consider Switzerland as providing an adequate level of data protection.

Our Data Protection and Privacy Policy

The FADP and the GDPR (where applicable) place obligations on The Association of the Anglican Church in Zurich (“The Association”) to protect your personal data, held by and processed by The Association. This regulation also places responsibilities on St. Andrew’s and its Daughter communities (“the church”) as members of The Association.
