This year’s cash collection from the St Andrew’s Harvest Festival Service, on 5 October, will be donated to Kinder & Jugendhaus Paradies, a Heilsarmee (Salvation Army) residential home in Zurich that provides housing and socio-educational care for 24 people aged 3–18. Paradies, or ‘Paradise’, is a place for them to live safely in community, process difficult past experiences, receive individualised education, and grow into independent young adults.
Most residents at Paradies attend primary or secondary school locally and share regular home-cooked meals with their fellow residents and caregivers. They have many and varied opportunities for sports and intellectual pursuits. They have freedom to rest and to enjoy recreational activities. They develop hobbies, and they make friends. The Heilsarmee team at Paradies is committed to fulfilling their mission with hope and with respect for the dignity and independence of every individual.
As we celebrate the abundance of harvest, please give as generously as you can to support the wellbeing of these children and teenagers, some of whom have suffered abuse and trauma.

Collection of goods to donate
Any goods collected at the Harvest Festival Service will be donated to Sozialwerk Pfarrer Sieber in Zurich, where around a hundred meals are cooked in a catering facility every day, enabling homeless people to receive wholesome, healthy meals. In addition, those affected by poverty receive food in household quantities and people with limited abilities are able to work in food processing and delivery.
