Coronation concert – Saturday 24th June, 4pm

At St Andrew’s Zurich, our Choir will give our summer concert on Saturday 24 June in honour of the King’s coronation. We will sing music associated with royal pageantry, some of which was also heard at the Abbey during the Coronation, such as Handel’s ‘Zadok the Priest’ and Parry’s ‘I was glad’.

Alongside choral favourites of the Anglican tradition, the choir will also sing music by Scottish, Welsh, and Irish composers. Highlights include James MacMillan’s ‘A new song’, a modern setting of Psalm 96, and a piece from Karl Jenkins’s ‘Gloria’.

A special set of three pieces related to birds will celebrate the King’s renowned love of nature. Everyone in the choir is excited to sing this programme. Our rehearsals are going splendidly, and it promises to be a very enjoyable afternoon – followed by a garden reception of wine and snacks.

Entrance is free with a retiring collection in aid of church funds.

We look forward to seeing you there!
