Stay Safe during the Festivities – and check that church services are still taking place

Following increased restrictions in successive weeks, aimed at reducing risk during the Christmas period, we are awaiting further announcements later in the week in case further lockdown measures come into effect. We have congregations in several cantons, so continue to monitor the situation in each and keep in touch with local pastors.

We follow the latest advice, and at the moment are holding our breath, wondering what might be announced on Friday for next week.

We have reviewed the regulations, in both letter and spirit, and with regret are now cancelling our two evening services of Readings and Christmas music this weekend.

The evening services on 19th & 20th are now cancelled

Furthermore, the Sunday morning service at 10am (Dec 20th) is full, so please do not sign up. We will be updating the website as soon as we can with new information concerning the services. Please bear with us as we strive to keep everyone informed.

We are monitoring the situation regarding Christmas itself, as there is uncertainty for gatherings during this festive period. We hope to know more at the end of the week.

Given the concerns of the authorities, in the news and official websites, we emphasise the need to take care and to sign up in advance to attend any future services. Please do not simply turn up at the door. Due to the continuing uncertainty about public gatherings, bookings are only being confirmed a few days beforehand.

This all sounds very officious, but this is the situation we find ourselves in. I hope, nonetheless that Christmas will actually find more meaning for each of us this year, as we appreciate what we can and recount the birth of the Christ-child.

This Festival is of the heart, and nothing can take that away.

What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a wise man, I would do my part;
Yet what can I give Him?
Give Him my heart.
