Prayer for the Day – Thursday 26 March

The Collect
Merciful Lord,
absolve your people from their offences,
that through your bountiful goodness
we may all be delivered from the chains of those sins
which by our frailty we have committed;
grant this, heavenly Father,
for Jesus Christ’s sake, our blessed Lord and Saviour,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

And, from Psalm 86 (v3-6), with a Lenten theme,
which begins with ‘Incline thine ear’ and ‘Preserve my soul’

Be merciful to me, O Lord, for you are my God;
   I call upon you all the day long.
Gladden the soul of your servant,
   for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
For you, Lord, are good and forgiving,
   abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.
Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer
   and listen to the voice of my supplication.

Why not try out the Church of England Mobile App “Daily Prayer”
There is a great shorter bedtime prayer in it, too, if that’s of interest. Click here for more information
